I began estrogen replacement at perimenopause for bone health in 1999.
I don't think that HRT for prevention of fractures is discussed enough.
I am 75 years old now.
The Women's Health Initiative Study was a travesty of poor design and poor interpretation.
One arm of the study was women without a uterus.
They received the estrogen analog and had a LOWER rate of breast cancer.
The data indicate that it was the synthetic progesterone that was the bad actor causing higher rates of breast cancer.
My mother discovered that she had osteoporosis at age 72 when she fell while hiking and broke both her wrists. As a researcher in Cell & Molecular Biology, I went to PubMed and investigated therapies. I rejected a bisphosphonate (like Fosamax) because they cause brittle bones and you can only take them for 5 years. My mother's doctor and I started her on transdermal estrogen and oral micronized progesterone. She never broke another bone and lived to age 96 cancer-free. She refused to stop her HRT because she said that it made her feel better.
Yes they do. but again let's clarify what a call back means: 90 percent of call backs are additional pictures only and issue of concern is resolved. Only 10 percent of call backs result in a biopsy.
Working (aka "exercising") outdoors has always been my happy place.

It is very interesting to me that moderate consumption of wine is protective.
Oops... not true.
It is confusing that wine is listed with the protective factors.
Question:
Do women with dense breasts have more "call backs"?
Yes they do. but again let's clarify what a call back means: 90 percent of call backs are additional pictures only and issue of concern is resolved. Only 10 percent of call backs result in a biopsy.
Yes
