Hi Eric. Great Ground Truth. Often, I tell my students, when presenting for resources turn your ideas into a formal abstract and craft that abstract into a good story. Why? People like good stories. Stories relate digestible meaning. A good story is fanciful. A good story is non-threatening. A good story is memorable. People will listen to a good story. And, a good story resonates; it is what people want to hear. Lupton, E. (2017). Design is storytelling. Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. Thanks again. Eric
It seems that about "storytelling" concepts have become quite prominent in my own life experiences. Neighbors of mine are members of a wandering troop that delight in sitting in audiences, outdoor tents, beach venues to listen to professional story tellers year after year. Parables are stories throughout the Old and New Testaments to promote the messages of God's love and to which people could really relate in their own lives. William Bausch's multiple books dwell on storytelling. The first one of his was a warmly welcomed gift following my own life crisis last fall when my dear wife departed this world. Bausch's "The Yellow Brick Road" A storytellers approach to the spiritual journey has been a remarkable intro into storytelling for me. The Wizard of Oz is Bausch's guide to understand the deep truths described in little vignettes about which we all can relate. Dr. Silverman's efforts to promote storytelling are well-needed to enhance medicine's need to inject more humanity into these ages of high technology. Good work Dr Silverman and Dr Topol. Thanks for the tips. I'll be checking on The Nocturnist for sure.
Thank you Emily Silverman & Eric Topol for a fun inspiring Substack❣️
Knowing when to hold-on, rework, recharge, reroute and let go in our chosen life path is the magic spirit of healers & healing… Yay U2❣️
Many thanks
