Actually Omicron may end the pandemic the way previous pandemics have ended with increasing transmissibility and decreasing lethality - it can end the pandemic if we let it.

YES! Why is no one else saying this? It's the path out but rather than embrace it, we have more lockdowns, more mandates, more attempts at control ....

My doctor said it, FWIW. Kind of under his breath and just to me though.

It's being said in like every social media thread written.

The COVID skeptic world has hardly been silenced. They are all over Substack as evidenced by this thread alone.

Yes, they have been relegated to the new obscure Substack website that promises not to censor.

No one knows if it's less virulent yet, except you apparently.

Expand full comment

So what. Many people have been claiming for months that the vax is safe and effective although untested. Quite an extreme guess in my opinion. Science ? No, divination.

It will take years to just catch up with the backlog of VAERS entries.

Whereas assuming that Omicron be less severe than Delta, itself less so that prior ones, is assuming that things keep going as usual and as before and as logically expectable.

The endpoint of a coronavirus is common cold: To spread fast and undisturbed.

For that reason many people, myself included, have been assuming that the pandemic will end that way. The vax blunder will make history.

Expand full comment

How is it untested? 200 million people in the US alone have gotten vaccinated with one of the 3 vaccines we have available. And Delta is more virulent than the 2020 strains of COVID.

Expand full comment

It is untested because adverse reactions are not known yet. It will take many years to enter them into the databases such as VAERS. Precisely because of the sheer number of inoculations. What has been entered so far is just scary. Some even say that more people died in the vaccinated than in the placebo branch of the trial - though not of Covid, but what's the point ? A 12yo girl (De Garay) was counted as suffering abdominal pain: Actually she's severly handicapped and in a wheelchair. Take the fake articles about HCQ, after which it was banned. The article was retracted, but the banning stayed.

Too much noise to be sure of anything. It will take years for the dust to settle.

But more unquestionably it is untested timewise. We will know the 5-year consequences in 4 years. Any pretense of knowledge about that is not science but divination. It is unpredictable.

Science is clearly gone for now.

It's all politics: Opinions not facts. The opposite of science.

Hopefully omicron will cool down the mass hysteria and we can get some science again, but not in the near term

Expand full comment

As for detla being more virulent: It is less so, but more contagious.

Besides it became prevalent after the mass jab, so its selection was not natural. Have you heard of the Marek effect ?

Expand full comment

Roderick, not a single hospitalization or death yet from Omi, worldwide. I don't even think there has been a "severe outcome" which is one step below hospitalization. Not too hard to figure out, esp given what is known about virology. You know Omi picked up parts of the common cold, right?

Expand full comment

Covid isn't virulent in the first place.

Expand full comment

I don't remember Smallpox, plague, yellow fever, cholera, dysentery, ebola, polio doing that, to name a few.

Expand full comment

Dude, respiratory viruses are nothing like any of those other diseases. You just outed yourself as someone who doesn't know a single thing.

Expand full comment

None of those are coronaviruses.

What works with one can be a grave error with another.

Smallpox for instance did not come in waves of new variants. It was very stable. It can't be caught twice. And it was very dangerous for all - unlike COVID, which is somewhat dangerous for the weakest only.

Vaccination was invented for it (and before that people use variolation in the 18th cenruty).

Most eradicated diseases were almost gone by the time vaccination arrived, if any, through better socioeconomic circumstances. Vaccination is no panacea. It is extremely complicated against a virus family which has been around for millions of years. And which normally gives common cold. If left alone the Covid will become just that.

Why is there no comparison with people who never had the Pfizer vaccine? Is it so because it would show that vaccination erodes the neutralization capacity of natural infection alone without vaccination?

No Previous Infection ✓ Ignored

Previous Infection - No Vaccination ✓ Ignored

Vaccination (before or after infection not stratified) 3x loss of neutralization

Vaccination and no infection 41x loss of neutralization.

Ground Truth- These studies are meant to hide any deleterious effects of vaccination.

Please debate Vaccine Safety expert Steve Kirsch, Dr. Vanden Bossche, Dr. Malone, Dr. McCullough on Joe Rogan's Podcast - 12hour special.

This is the ground truth. Welcome onboard.

They're working really hard to wipe out that control group. One way or another.

Expand full comment

Dr. Topol, this is a matter of great concern since the vaccine appears to have negative effectiveness in baseline recovered/recovering patients and erodes that person's immunity. Pfizer's double blind data shows this (-10.5% Vaccine Efficacy) for 1 dose after 28 days which would mean an Rt=1.105 - This is sufficient to cause an outbreak in a population that is getting infected and mass vaccinated successively.

https://almostwrong.substack.com/p/what-if-the-negative-105-vaccine

In addition to the randomized control trial data, we have this data replicated in

✓ UK health care workers in prospective cohort study from December to May VE=(-10%-13%)[1]

✓ UK Care Home Study VE=(-100%)[2]

✓ Qatar Retrospective Test-negative case control study VE=(-16.8%)[3]

So this is not an artifact of study design as you'd rarely find the same effect size and direction in different countries, cohorts and study protocols.

If we compare this with what's happened in many countries that implemented a mass vaccination campaign on a background of high asymptomatic infection like most of Asian countries, we found that suddenly they had explosive rise in cases like India, Vietnam, Singapore. This is very concerning and previous infection should be a contraindication for the vaccination unless proven safe or it will cause mass outbreaks! Since the partially vaccinated have extremely high viral load![4,5]

Not a very impressive sample size!!! We have no idea how long this lasts so lets just give everyone boosters until they all need yet another booster, side effects be dammed. So the best way to avoid getting COVID is to actually get COVID. That is a bold strategy.

Eric, this topic seems worthy of a debate, as other credible experts are positing the exact opposite. Our World in Data shows an incredible reduction in deaths in South Africa, as noted today by Gato Malo today (https://boriquagato.substack.com/p/more-evidence-of-omicron-mildness).

Wouldn’t it be most effective to advise the population to optimize their vitamin D level to optimize their immune system function to deal with present and future variants?

While I take Vitamin D, Lactoferrin, Quercitin + Zinc, and other supplements that may have some positive effect re: COVID daily, I am certainly not going to show up for a gunfight unvaccinated. There are a lot of people in the ground or on vents now who relied far too much on supplements.

How can we hope to contain a virus that is as infectious as chickenpox?

And why would we want to try to contain it? Toxic jabs every 3 months, lockdowns, masks, vax-only passports, total destruction of our lives? So we can avoid a minor cold? Give me a break.

Why don't we just go for herd immunity via natural infection, instead of trying to contain a constantly-moving target -- with all the animal reservoirs it is impossible. It's just going to keep mutating, that's what coronavirus does.

We need to get off this merry-go-round. Even the Spanish Flu, which was much more severe than COVID, was over in 2 years. For us, all-cause deaths just keep going up. The public health response has been a disaster, it needs to stop. Just stop.

Help people get early treatment instead, there are lots of effective answers. Problem solved.

There have been many potential off-ramps to wind down the Covid hysteria, lockdowns, pointless masking, etc. Yet so far our ruling class has let every opportunity pass by. Maybe they will finally take this chance to call off the hysterics. It's doubtful, but maybe they've decided they've made enough money, and now they can make money on the destructive "therapies" that are coming out.
